Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi- Amboseli National Park

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our friendly representative and driver/guide who will be of any assistance. He/she prrovides the itinerary briefing and later transfer to your city hotel for check in.

Overnight at Sarova Panafric Hotel

Day 2: Mount Kenya
After breakfast, continue to the luxurious Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club with its manicured lawns and well-tended gardens situated at the foot of Mount Kenya. You can have a perfectly relaxed day in the beautifully landscaped surroundings in full view of Mt. Kenya. Activities include golf, tennis, horse-riding and swimming in the heated pool. The morning may be a bit chilly, but it starts to warm up by mid-day. Lunch and whatever you choose to do later. As the sun sets it begins to get cold. Log fires are lit in the lounges. Dinner is a bit of a formal affair. No neck ties necessary.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve

Day 5: Aberdares- Shaba National Reserve
Early morning departure to Shaba National Reserve, the home of ‘Kamunyak’, a lioness famous for adopting Oryx calves. After lunch depart for afternoon game drive which may give you the chance to spot unique dry country flora and fauna such as Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk, Grant’s Gazelle, Somali Ostrich and Reticulated Giraffe. The three big cats may also be spotted, if lucky.

Day 6-7: Shaba National Reserve
Early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. The rest of the morning will be at leisure at the lodge. Lunch precedes the afternoon game drive. This is a wildlife haven where you are likely to spot Africa’s big cats-lions, cheetahs and the elusive leopard. Some animals are unique to this northern Kenya Park; gravy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, kudus and gerenuk. The Ewaso Nyiro River, the boundary with the neighbouring buffalo springs national reserve, is where the elephants buffaloes and other animal species gather for a drink. You will find the scenic semiarid landscape quite dramatic. The reserve is located within the lands of the colourful semi-nomadic Samburu tribesmen.

Day 8: Samburu- Mount Kenya
Morning departure to Mt. Kenya National Park, which is famous for mountain climbing lovers. Spend the rest of the day viewing wild animals at the lodge’s water hole.

NB: Minimum age limit for Serena Mountain Lodge is 6 years

Day 9: Mount Kenya- Lake Baringo/ via Thomsons Fall and Lake Bogoria
Early morning departure to the Lake Baringo with a short stop at the beautiful  Nyahururu Thompsons Fall for a scenic view of the falls. Thereafter proceed to the shallow soda Lake Bogoria to visit the hot springs and geysers and new home to the flamingo population. After lunch proceed to the beautiful lake Baringo where you may enjoy the pleasure of an evening bird walk as you watch hippo, crocodiles and monitor lizards at the shoreline. Boat rides are also available at an extra fee.

Day 10: Baringo- Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru national park where you will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. This will be followed by an afternoon at this park famous for its flamingos, being a rhino sanctuary and ornithologist’s paradise. It has approximately 450 bird species  and it’s  also a rhino sanctuary hosting the rare white rhinos. The vegetation is mainly wooded and bushy grassland with a wide ecological diversity and characteristic habitats that range from the lake waters to the escarpment and ridges.

Day 11: Nakuru- Maasai Mara National Reserve
Morning departure to Maasai Mara arriving for lunch at the lodge. This will be followed by an afternoon game drive. The afternoon game drive will introduce to the diverse wildlife in this reserve.

Accommodation: Mara Serena Lodge

Day 12-13: Maasai Mara National Reserve
Early morning game drive at the Maasai Mara, the northern part of the Serengeti and one of Kenya’s most favoured game-viewing areas.  Return to the lodge for breakfast  and the rest of the morning will be at leisure at the lodge. Another game drive after lunch. This is Kenya’s finest reserve and the vegetation is mostly savannah type with forested areas near the rivers and of course the dwarf acacias to cater for the giraffes. More than 60 species of animals are found here and countless bird species, this includes the Maasai ostrich and the secretary bird. This is where the great migration of the wildebeest takes place at the beginning of August now acknowledged as one of wonders of the world.

Day 14: Depart
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi. On arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outbound flight. Lunch on this day will be on own.
