Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi- Amboseli National Park

On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative. Leave Nairobi in the morning and drive southwards through Maasai country arriving at the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro where Amboseli is situated in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the scenic Amboseli National Park till evening.

Day 2-3: Amboseli National Park

Early morning game drive in Amboseli, famous for the large herds of elephants and a variety of other wild species. One also gets to have spectacular views of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, on a clear day. Return to the lodge for breakfast and the rest of the morning will be at leisure. After lunch, depart for an afternoon game drive for a chance to explore the park further.

Day 4: Aberdares National Park

Early morning departure from Amboseli. Pick up packed lunches at Nairobi as you proceed to the he Ark. You will be dropped at the base hotel, Aberdares Country Club where the lodge vehicles will transfer you to the tree hotel, Ark at 1700hrs.

NB: Minimum age limit for The Ark is 7 years old.

Day 5: Aberdares- Samburu National Reserve

Early morning departure to Samburu National Reserve, the home of ‘Kamunyak’, a lioness famous for adopting Oryx calves. After lunch depart for afternoon game drive which may give you the chance to spot unique dry country flora and fauna such as Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk, Grant’s Gazelle, Somali Ostrich and Reticulated Giraffe. The three big cats may also be spotted, if lucky.

Day 6-7: Samburu National Reserve

Early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. The rest of the morning will be at leisure at the lodge. Lunch precedes the afternoon game drive. This is a wildlife haven where you are likely to spot Africa’s big cats-lions, cheetahs and the elusive leopard. Some animals are unique to this northern Kenya Park; gravy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, kudus and gerenuk. The Ewaso Nyiro River, the boundary with the neighbouring buffalo springs national reserve, is where the elephants buffaloes and other animal species gather for a drink. You will find the scenic semiarid landscape quite dramatic. The reserve is located within the lands of the colourful semi-nomadic Samburu tribesmen.

Day 8: Samburu- Mount Kenya

Morning departure to the slopes of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure at the lodge. Naro Moru River Lodge is an austere cabin residence just south of the equator, in the heart of a small market town about 150 kilometers (93 mi) north-northeast of Kenya’s capital Nairobi. This breath-taking lodge is a quiet locale to have fun, be with family and friends, with easy access to Mt Kenya’s peaks for climbing, hiking or trekking, biking, and bird watching (at an extra cost).

Day 9: Mount Kenya- Lake Baringo/ via Thomson’s Fall and Lake Bogoria

Early morning departure to the Lake Baringo with a short stop at the beautiful Nyahururu Thomsons Fall for a scenic view of the falls. Thereafter proceed to the shallow soda Lake Bogoria to visit the hot springs and geysers and new home to the flamingo population. After lunch proceed to the beautiful lake Baringo where you may enjoy the pleasure of an evening bird walk as you watch hippo, crocodiles and monitor lizards at the shoreline. Boat rides are also available at an extra fee.

Day 10: Baringo- Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru national park where you will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. This will be followed by an afternoon at this park famous for its flamingos, being a rhino sanctuary and ornithologist’s paradise. It has approximately 450 bird species and it’s also a rhino sanctuary hosting the rare white rhinos. The vegetation is mainly wooded and bushy grassland with a wide ecological diversity and characteristic habitats that range from the lake waters to the escarpment and ridges.

Day 11: Nakuru- Maasai Mara National Reserve

Morning departure to Maasai Mara arriving for lunch at the lodge. This will be followed by an afternoon game drive. The afternoon game drive will introduce to the diverse wildlife in this reserve.

Day 12-13: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Early morning game drive at the Maasai Mara, the northern part of the Serengeti and one of Kenya’s most favoured game-viewing areas. Return to the lodge for breakfast and the rest of the morning will be at leisure at the lodge. Another game drive after lunch. This is Kenya’s finest reserve and the vegetation is mostly savannah type with forested areas near the rivers and of course the dwarf acacias to cater for the giraffes. More than 60 species of animals are found here and countless bird species, this includes the Maasai ostrich and the secretary bird. This is where the great migration of the wildebeest takes place at the beginning of August now acknowledged as one of wonders of the world.

Day 14: Mara- Mombasa

After breakfast, depart for Nairobi and arrive in time for lunch. Thereafter transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Mombasa for your beach holiday.

Day 15 – 17: Mombasa

Full day at leisure (on own).

Early morning transfer to Moi Airport for your flight back to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you will connect to your outbound flight.
